Central theatre needed in city
How can Exeter City Council be so naive as to believe Exeter would even be considered to become national City of Culture when it lacks the first essential component – a proper centrally-located theatre, a cultural citadel that provides the citizens and those from the surrounding areas with the the opportunity to benefit from top flight drama as well as lighter entertainment.
A theatre is the very essence of culture in any civilised society. Without this, an ancient cathedral, a UK top 10 university and an award-winning museum are not sufficient and our elected representatives, the council officers, the Crown Estate, TH Real Estate, Exeter Vision Partnership, Exeter City Futures et al are deluded if they think otherwise.
